2B (iii) Post Modern Styles

Homage
Homage is a music video that shows its respect or remakes a previous video or television programme etc. It is a post modern technique in music video's that can be commonly found now, it can often be referring to the artists idol or some one who paid a big influence in their life.
For example a music video for the charity Help For Heroes or a video that has an aspect of it in it would be paying homage to the military service and the army because it is showing their respect for to them.

Parody
A parody is essentially a spoof or comedic remake of any particular song. This is often used as a way to gain publicity as it is often a remake of a popular song with intertextual references or things that relate to the modern day or artist. Although they are not as popular amongst actual artists they can help to boost the views of an upcoming comedian for example.

Pastiche
Pastiche style of music videos are basically imitations but are also in their own right, artistic.
An example of this could be a music video using certain themes from a particular era for example the 80s and interpreting it into their own way. To an extent it could be seen as homage but because of the way it is artistically portrayed it becomes pastiche. This also gives the artist a unique niche approach to their work.

Allusion
This is where the music video will reference back to something that has previously happened in history.
