Evaluation - Directors commentary
Continuity - I believe the continuity flowed well within the ident because the colours in each shot matched each other as they were both vibrant and stood out, this also represents the theme and tone of the channel.
I believe the idea of this ident could have been developed better by adding more relatable images and shots, ones that represent the theme (which is speakers) and that represents the actual channels identity as well.

TASK 1B: Report on Design & Purposes
Identity - Channel 4
This ident for channel 4 started of as if it was almost a opening for a short film, This was used to engage the audience and make them intrigued and make them clueless as to what they are watching at the start of the ident.
The audience will later on realise that it is channel 4 because different objects in the sky relating to the ident and location will then move and create an illusion that they make the Channel 4 logo.
This effect portrays channel 4's creative side which is also a reflection of the actual channel itself and the type of programs it shows. It will also leave the audience expecting similar idents of this type of style to follow afterwards which then leads to brand loyalty.
Branding - BBC 1
This ident is an example of branding, this particular ident was a part of the BBC's old channel branding theme which was circles, this represented unity, the world and togetherness, all of which the BBC was trying to promote.
Branding also means giving the ident a particular identity to be recognisable to the consumer, in the BBC's case they use it so that every ident they make has similar aspects and can stand out with small aspects that they each have in them which create a big impact.
Segmentation within scheduling/Information led - Channel 4
These idents are used with the purpose of giving the ident a clear purpose, they will also often be found having themes that resemble the program that will be coming next.
For example in this ident, it uses a character from The Simpsons to show that the program coming up next is The Simpsons, this is a useful technique as fans of the program will feel more inclined to watch it. It also gives a variety to the type of idents that the channel has and also helps them to differentiate themselves from other channels who may not do segmentation within scheduling.
This ident also starts of as a short film or as part of the actual program, this will keep the audience interested and want to find out more because they won't know the difference from watching it first time around.
This ident is also information led to an extent because it's letting you know what program is coming up next and also telling you what channel it is in the same ident.
BBC Three (Re-branding/screen tempo)
The purpose of rebranding a channel is to give it a new look which might be more relatable and appeal more to its target audience. It could also be used to give itself a new look because the old idea has been outdated and over used.
This ident is an example of BBC 3's ident rebranding, it shows a new modernistic look which BBC 3 is known for having. This look is more relatable to the audience now because it has symbolic silhouette images representing what kind of shows are shown on the channel. Therefor the ident represents itself as well as the audience.
SKY 1, 2, 3 - Marketing, interaction with viewers
This ident interacts with its viewers due to the looks of the numbers in the ident, for example, the 1 at the start seems to be made out of futurist glass of some sort, which could appeal to the sci-fi audience in Sky 1's channel as it looks relatable to that audience.
Each individual number shows a different characteristic which is related to the different genres shown within each of the 1 - 3 channels. For example, Sky 3 was merged out of a form of pink dust which looked magical to an extent, it also contained some sort of glitter in it. So therefore it's possible that this channel is relatable to females.

Treatment
(i) How it will create or develop Image for the artist (descriptive words
that link your idea to how it is creating a personality for the artist - sexy, rebellious, vulnerable, creative, underdog, criminal etc.)
This video will help to create a creative and underdog type of image for the artist, this mean I will be using a series of transitions and a series of abstract shots and transitions for this video.
As the artist is a creative individual I would like to portray that and his rebellious image in the music video.
ii) How it visually interprets the track both music & lyrics
It will visually interpret the track through the types of fast paced movements and the lack of static shots in the video. It will also interpret the track because the artist will be portrayed as an upbeat but masculine person. The songs core message is about a girl and good vibes, therefore the music video will have to be set in the light and also have an element of joy. Also the type of clothing the type of clothing the artist needs to wear will have to be brightly colour because of the theme of the song
(iii) How it is on Trend for the Genre (with reference to competitors)
This will be on trend for the genre because it has a small amount of choreography which is often found in afro beats music as it is an upbeat genre of music.
It is also on trend because of the type of shot sequence and editing styles which will be used.
(iv) How and where it will be filmed over how many days (ie how will the shoot be split into sections etc)

We are planning to spread the shoot across 2 weeks but over 6 days to get all the shots we need as well as back up shots as well.
We are planning to film in various locations such as New Cross, we thought this was a gritty area with interesting buildings that would add even more of an urban flavour to out shot sequence. This is also where the artist grew up so it gives even more of a meaning to the shots since this is his hometown in which he is trying to represent aswell as himself.
Another location we will be using is South Quay as it has a classy essence to it and it is a contrast to the location we will be using in New Cross where it was gritty and run down.
It will be split into sections through the different locations through different days
Task 2B (ii)
Performance
Performance based music videos involve things such as lip syncing and different forms of choreography. This is used so the audience feel as if the song is being performed to them or so they can feel as if they are a part of the performance. The artist and company will need to make the audience seem as if they are in a concert, this could also increase the revenue as the audience may see the video and want to experience a concert of that artist first hand for themselves.
For example this video has aspects of performance in it, also showing the fans going wild to his song so therefore it will entice other fans who haven't been to one of his concerts to go and see what one will be like.
Narrative
Narrative music videos usually revolve around story or background story, these are often used to inform people about certain issues even though they may contain some form of performace as well to keep the audience occupied.
This is a narrative music video showing a story relating to Black Lives Matter, it shows him being portrayed to the people in his neighbourhood as a messiah type figure, this is shown through him levitating and being surround by the masses. At the end of the video could represent the death of christ, as the artist is on the lamp post (highest point) and he gets shot down. This story could also show a narrative of an unlawful killing of a black man.
Hyper Reality
Hyper reality is what main stream artists use to create a different persona for themselves and promote themselves in the way they would like to be seen.
For example in most modern major label music videos, hyper reality is used for those exact same reasons.
This can also be used to emphasise certain lyrics in the song and make things that are often idolised by modern society seem even more real and emphasised.
For example in this video, the artists lifestyle is extremely exaggerated. From the amount of money being spent, hyper real videos make the audience aspire to be like the artist.
