Draft Proposal - Resubmission Unit 2.2

Introduction
The reason for my proposal is to promote and give an idea to the producers to hopefully ensure that the film is made. My film was inspired by Paranormal Activty 5, which came out in 2015. This has inspired my plot becuse it gave me the idea of using supernatural beings/ghosts to torture humans and a mysterious twisted plot sequence. It was rated 4.5 out of 10 by IMDB and grossed at £78.1 million at the box office.
The main theme for my short film is essentially a quest with a twist at the end to leave the audience confused. The inital plot will start off with a dyig grandfather or brother (depending on casting) looking for his long lost watch, he requests him grandson to follow clues and look for it in the woods he is then approached by supernatural beings and beaten up, he then finds the watch and brings it to the grandfather. only to find that the grandfather is just a duplicate and his real one is locked away, this will be shown through a series of camera mvements. But due to the shot film being 1 minute long an alternate plot has been arranged with some of the more detailed parts taken out of it.

Film Synopsis
Dying brother has one request from his brother, to go and find his watch that he left in the woods. Brother does as he is told goes to the woods, but as he approaches the watch he is beaten up/ tortured by supernatural beings. There is then a cross cut to another scene of the brother getting out of bed as if he is normal to check on the real brother who he had tied up as he is just a 'clone'.
My film was inspired by Paranormal Actvity 5 through the dark concepts and it was also inspired by the short films such as The Smiling Man.
Hook
The hook in my film will be the watch which is described at the beginning of the sequence.
I will also use a series of camera angles and shots to emphasise the fact that the watch is very important to the narrative.
Twist
The twist will be at the end when we find out that the person he had been calling his brother turned out to be a clone and had been using him all this time to get the watch

My film rating will be 15 as I wud like show some strong scenes of violence as this is a horror film, I believe this rating will allow me to express what I have come up will on the plot and bring it to life but also with a few limitations so it doesn't turn into an 18 rated film.

My overall budget should be around £40 - £60, the reason the budget being so low is the fact that most of my equipment such as cameras, tripods, lights etc will be provided by the school for free because well are allowed to use it for a certain amount of time if booked.
Also my film will be shot in some public areas and areas that do not require means of payment.
Location
There will be two different loctions for my short film, the first one being a normal house in the area and the second one being the woods. This will be be convenient because the woods is located right behind the house that I will be using. Also two different loctions will be conveient because it will help set a better mood for the short film.
Primary Research                                                                                  Primary Research
I planned to make a horor instead of a thriller because of the research that I used. I found through different statitics on youtube, that people prefer to be scared and enjoy suspense when it comes to films.
The first person I interviewed gave a really technical answer and said that they like to see jump scares and fast past editing.
I used social media to find out more primary research on what people like to see in horror films. I used some of my friends, friends so it wasn't a biased response. I viewed different playlists on youtube to find out which ones had the most views and likes. I used this to my advantage and added pieces of it to my short film script.
The second person I asked said they enjoy a good storyline and plot, as it gives a good adrenaline rush to the viewer.
The third person would like to see a series of montage clips to create meaning and tension, the key thing I realised about all the answers is that they all enjoy a rise of tension, good plot and a build in general.
Secondary Research
My secondary research depended upon the information I gathered from my primary research. I will get this information from outside my target audience on social media sites such as facebook and twitter even though this informtion will already be exsting. Thrillers were also the dominant style of style of short film in the different playlists that I looked at.
My idea was also based on a news article I saw about identity theft, this intregued me and made me want to adapt this and change parts to make it suitable for a horror film.
Summary of Research
My Primary and secondary research has helped me to discover different facts and figures about horror and thriller films. For example that for a youth audience around 12 - 17 thriller films seem to be more appealing to them. I also came to this theory by looking at a number of different YouTube playlists and analysisng the views (as seen on the picture on the left) then coming to the conclusion that thrillers brought in the most likes and views. I also looked at the statistics on the YouTube vid and saw that teenage females were the biggest viewers also the comments were mainly from female audiences aswell.
Unique Selling Point
My unique selling point is the fact that my film has a twist, hook and withholds a lot of suspense. It also conveys to most horror conventions but takes inspiration from a vast variety of source. Such as Paranormal Activity 5. My uniue selling point is also the fact that my target audience will be marketed to and audience who are not usually marketed of people for example 21 - 30 year old.
It will also include a strong hook and twist to help it convy more into the horror genre.

Regulations and Certifications
The film regulating body that will take charge of rating this film will be the British Board of Film Clasification as this film will be distributed through Britain. It would also be them who do it because they are the only company who take care of the rating films in the United Kingdom.
I would like the BBFC to rate my film a 15 because it allows me to let my shortfall convey more in the genre of Horror because of the levels of violence I can show with fewer restrictions. Although, it is unlikely for the BBFC to regulate my short film because it doesn't meet the regulations which is includes being on shown publicy in a cinema or on a legit DVD.
Distribution
My film will be distributed and premiered at numerous short film festivals. Festivals like this are where distributors attend to view different short films and if they are influenced by it.

Funding
For the majority of the things I am planning to do I will not need funding as the college will provide for my most of my equipment. But if I do need funding in the long run, Kick Starter is a website that helps to fund different projcts and ideas if they are good enough so I will pitch it to them and get funding for my short film.

Budget
As the majrity of our equipment will be provided for free I wouldn't have to pay for things such as cameras, lighting equipment, microphones, tripods etc. But I would have to take into consideration location as this will need to be paid for by me if I want to use that particular area. Parts of the short film are going to be set in the woods so I will need permision from the council before I have the clearance to film. This wil be done at the councils film office.
